Sora's Recipe
Title Sequence
Title Sequence
This is a title sequence imagining a Japanese novel, Sora's Recipe, being adapted into a series. The story follows a girl named Sora, her journey of growing up, and her evolving relationship with her mother. The narrative is tied together by several dishes, with each one symbolizing key moments in Sora's life. I chose some of the most important dishes from the novel and used an illustration style to evoke a warm, nostalgic feeling throughout the project.

Sora’s Recipes
Every dish tells a story.
Sora’s Recipes tells the story of Sora’s growth through the meals she shares with her family. Each dish carries fragments of memory — laughter, warmth, the bonds between family members, and the passage of time — transforming recipes into emotional records of her life. Like pages of a recipe book, the title sequence unfolds through food, revealing how the act of cooking connects love, memory, and identity.

Research
I read the novel and took notes on how each dish relates to the characters. I also researched book cover designs from different countries as visual references. Beyond the food itself, the act of cooking serves as a metaphor, revealing subtle shifts in the characters’ emotions and the evolution of their relationship over time. In terms of visual design, I referenced real Japanese tableware to create illustrations that align with the story’s cultural context and narrative tone.
