Research
I read the novel and took notes on how each dish relates to the characters. I also researched book cover designs from different countries as visual references. Beyond the food itself, the act of cooking serves as a metaphor, revealing subtle shifts in the characters’ emotions and the evolution of their relationship over time. In terms of visual design, I referenced real Japanese tableware to create illustrations that align with the story’s cultural context and narrative tone.
