Where Do Feelings Come From?
Style Frames Design
The project visualizes a segment of the podcast episode from Hidden Brain titled “Where Do Feelings Come From?” The episode explains that emotions are not reactions, but rather predictions made by our brains. These predictions serve to help us prepare for the future and react to various situations accordingly.
Concept
Where Do Feelings Come From
Every emotion predicts what comes next.
I incorporated fortune-telling to visualize predictions, employing visual elements such as crystal balls and tarot cards. The room of fortunetelling is like the world of brains. I utilized images from the cards to illustrate two examples in the section. Different shapes represent various emotions. The atmosphere of fortune-telling is inherently mysterious, hence I chose blue-purple as the primary color scheme. The addition of white and pink creates a striking contrast.

Rough Style Frames
I developed three style versions at the beginning. The first used multiple colors and textures to express emotions, the second simplified both for a cleaner look, and the third employed limited colors with a subtle noise texture. After comparison, I chose the third version for its balance. It conveys emotions effectively, maintains visual coherence, and guides the viewer’s focal point.
Original Style Frames
The original styleframes featured a color balance that lacked a clear focal point. I refined the color palette to create stronger visual contrast and guide attention toward the key elements.
